Addicted After All (Addicted #3) by Krista Ritchie and Becca Ritchie

Two addicts. One epic love story.

Prepare for the worst.

That’s what Lily and Lo try to do when Jonathan Hale schedules an “important” meeting. The problem: after being swept into the public eye and battling their addictions, they’re not sure what the worst is anymore.
In a sea of many changes—including Ryke & Daisy living with them—Lily realizes that the best part of her fluctuating hormones might just be the worst.

Her sex drive is out of control.

Loren knows that she’s insatiable, but he’s not giving up on her. She’s too much a part of him. And as he carries more and more responsibility, some of the people that he loves doubt his resolve.
In the conclusion to their love story, Lily & Lo stand side-by-side to fight, one last time, for their happily ever after.

Due to the 2-year gap between Addicted for Now (Addicted #2) and Addicted After All (Addicted #3), you must read Thrive (Addicted #2.5) orthe Calloway Sisters spin-off series before reading Addicted After All.

My Review:

“The parts of me that I love the most are the parts that belong to her.”

I devoured this series in four days, it is just so amazing and unputdownable, Lily and Loren s love story truly is epic.
These two have been through so much, so  much pain and shame and hate yet they always stayed together and never lost sight of what is most important - overcoming their addictions so that they can lead semi normal lives together. After they finally have some semblance of control, in Hothouse flower and Thrive, we find out that there is a new challenge ahead of them, Lily is pregnant and it was nice to see Loren caring for her and striving for a better future for their child.

What most upsets me in this series is the media reaction and of other people towards Lily and her sex addiction and all the things they write and say about her. I know it is realistic, this world is nothing if not at times despicable, but I was so proud of Lily in this book when she decided to overlook bad and see the good, the fans that love and support them. As a couple, Lily and Loren are unstoppable and while their scenes get pretty hot, my favorite moments with them are the sweet ones, they can be so adorable.

“I speak for everyone here today,” he tells us, “when I say that you two—Lily and Loren—are the strongest people we’ve all ever had the honor to meet.”

While #TeamLiLo is my favorite couple, my favorite character is without a doubt Connor. He is a force to be reckoned with, an air of calmness and reassurance even in uber stressful situations like the one in the limo, which I dont want to spoil. He is a great husband and an incredible best friend. He always knows just what to say.
While LiLo are done with their story, there will be two more bookks in this world, one for Ryke and Daisy, and one for Connor and Rose. Everything has started to calm down around them so I am curios what the authors have in store for them next.

“Life doesn’t stop when you take a new road. It always finds a way to go on.”

Wicked (A Wicked Saga #1) by Jennifer L. Armentrout

Things are about to get Wicked in New Orleans.

Twenty-two year old Ivy Morgan isn’t your average college student. She, and others like her, know humans aren’t the only thing trolling the French Quarter for fun… and for food. Her duty to the Order is her life. After all, four years ago, she lost everything at the hands of the creatures she’d sworn to hunt, tearing her world and her heart apart.

Ren Owens is the last person Ivy expected to enter her rigidly controlled life. He’s six feet and three inches of temptation and swoon-inducing charm. With forest-green eyes and a smile that’s surely left a stream of broken hearts in its wake, he has an uncanny, almost unnatural ability to make her yearn for everything he has to offer. But letting him in is as dangerous as hunting the cold-blooded killers stalking the streets. Losing the boy she loved once before had nearly destroyed her, but the sparking tension that grows between them becomes impossible for Ivy to deny. Deep down, she wants… she needs more than what her duty demands of her, what her past has shaped for her.

But as Ivy grows closer to Ren, she realizes she’s not the only one carrying secrets that could shatter the frail bond between them. There’s something he’s not telling her, and one thing is for certain. She’s no longer sure what is more dangerous to her—the ancient beings threatening to take over the town or the man demanding to lay claim to her heart and her soul.

My Review:

“Grabbing a scarf off the chair, I threw it at him.
He caught it, clutching it to his chest as he flew into the air. "You gave Tink a scarf. Tink is free!" He flew out into the hallway like a little cracked-out fairy, screeching, "Tink is freeeeee!"
Ren looked at me. "What the actual f**k?"
I sighed. "He's obsessed with Harry Potter. I'm sorry."
Tink darted back into the room, holding the scarf to his bare chest. "There is no reason to apologize when it comes to Harry Potter."
"You do remember what happened to Dobby, right?" I said.
"S**t." Tink's eyes widened and he dropped the scarf.”

As always, JLA managed to light up my day while reading this. She always makes me laugh, her male characters are generally pretty swoony, there are plenty of action scenes with MC kicking ass and since this is a NA book, it gets pretty steamy.
The main character in Wicked is Ivy, a college girl who is a part of the Order, tasked to protect humans from fae, killing any they encounter to stop them from feeding on people. Ren, the love interest, is also a part of the Order, who is keeping some secrets and who helps Ivy with the fae. They are both attracted to each other, Ren is continously flirting with her while Ivy is trying to fight it. Also, it becomes apparent that there is a traitor in the Order and they are trying to find out who.

While I loved both Ivy and Ren, my favorite character is definitely Tink, a tiny brownie who Ivy found injured and just couldnt bear to kill so he lives with her and he is her friend. He is also hilarious, a big Harry Potter fan, who we see knows more than anyone else. He reminded me a bit of Jenks from my favorite series The Hollows, a tiny kick-ass dude with a potty mouth.
The premise with The Ancients was interesting, I hope we see more of the Prince in the sequel, he is intriguing. The betrayal that comes has been expected on my part and that is why this book gets 4 stars from me. I just wasnt surprised. And the cliffhanger threw me, it made me anxious and now Torn is on my list of most anticipated reads of 2015.
What I have to say is thank you to Jennifer L. Armentrout for writing because her book always made me smile no matter what.

“I'm a lot of things, but today I'm your fucking saving grace.”

A Thousand Pieces of You (Firebird #1) by Claudia Gray

Every Day meets Cloud Atlas in this heart-racing, space- and time-bending, epic new trilogy from New York Times bestselling author Claudia Gray.

Marguerite Caine’s physicist parents are known for their radical scientific achievements. Their most astonishing invention: the Firebird, which allows users to jump into parallel universes, some vastly altered from our own. But when Marguerite’s father is murdered, the killer—her parent’s handsome and enigmatic assistant Paul—escapes into another dimension before the law can touch him.

Marguerite can’t let the man who destroyed her family go free, and she races after Paul through different universes, where their lives entangle in increasingly familiar ways. With each encounter she begins to question Paul’s guilt—and her own heart. Soon she discovers the truth behind her father’s death is more sinister than she ever could have imagined.

A Thousand Pieces of You explores a reality where we witness the countless other lives we might lead in an amazingly intricate multiverse, and ask whether, amid infinite possibilities, one love can endure.

My Review:

“Every form of art is another way of seeing the world. Another perspective, another window. And science –that’s the most spectacular window of all. You can see the entire universe from there.”

Claudia Gray is one of the first YA authors that I loved, ever since I read Evernight series in high school. I have yet to read her other series but when I read the blurb for this book I was anxious to have it in my arms. And then the cover was revealed and I have to say that it is my favorite book cover of all time.

This book is amazing. It has everything you want from a YA novel. It was heartbreaking, fast-paced, romantic and at times steamy and fun. I love the concept of parallel dimensions, and jumping into another you in another universe. I love the story, a girl doing everything in her power to find and punish her father s killer, who she knows very well and who she had a connection with.

Marguerite has qualities that all my favorite heroines have: she is brave, smart and an artist, no nonsense and loyal. Paul Markov, every version of him, has to be one of the best book boyfriends ever. So loving and gentle and intelligent and protective, he does everything he can to protect the girl he loves. The villain in this book has the potential to be really bad so I am curious how it will all develop in the next two books, which I am very excited to read.
The writing was amazing as always, the world building extraordinary, character developement awesome, sometimes surprising and A Thousand Pieces of you is my favorite read of 2015 so far and I have a feeling it will stay in the top 10.

“I fell in love with his unchanging soul.”

Book Blitz: #Hater by Cambria Hebert (Excerpt + Giveaway)

#Hater by Cambria Hebert

(Hashtag #2)
Publication date: January 12th 2015
Genres: Contemporary, New Adult, Romance

It started with unspoken animosity. The bitter bite of jealousy. And now its full blown hate.

It was during my first football game that I first felt the first chill of hate. I looked it right in the eyes and felt its sticky tentacles reach out for me. I’d never experienced something so cold and empty before.

The effect of that look lingered, like an unspoken promise, long after it was gone.

Becoming a couple – becoming the other half of a campus celebrity wasn’t easy. I let down walls guarding my heart and he looked past my glasses and accident prone tendencies. Romeo and I are an unlikely match, a #nerd and a jock. But we made it.

And we’re happy.

Zach doesn’t want us to be happy. He wants Romeo to pay for getting him kicked out of Omega and for the night he spent in jail. He’s going to use anything and everything he can to get his revenge. Including me.

As the weather on campus grows cold and the days become dark, revenge becomes the center of someone’s life and the happiness Romeo and I worked so hard for is threatened.

I can’t help but worry that our love is going to be overshadowed by hate.

Excerpt from #Hater

The Hashtag Series #2

Romeo caught me around the elbow and gently pulled me around. “What’s wrong?”
“You used to be just like him,” I blurted out. Then I slammed my lips together, cursing myself for not thinking before I spoke.
Romeo’s brows drew together. “Braeden?”
I nodded. “You liked to have fun. You hit on a different girl every day…” I paused and took a breath. “Pretty girls.”
Something very close to anger lit up his eyes and burned there like the hottest part of a flame. Before I could backpedal, his large hands slid beneath my arms and hooked beneath my shoulders. Romeo lifted me off the ground like it was easy, like it didn’t even take effort. My feet dangled in the air as he drew me up so we were eye to eye.
“A thousand of those girls”—he made a slight motion with his head toward Braeden—“couldn’t even make up one of you.”
“Romeo,” I whispered, caught up in the molten blue flame flickering in his gaze.
“You know I was like that once. I’ve never made a secret of it. But you’re it for me now, Rim. There’s no one else. There never could be.”
Even though he spoke softly, I still felt the room around us listening. My neck still prickled with a thousand stares, but I didn’t care. His words pierced me. They took the feelings of doubt creeping up inside me and totally vanquished them.
I smiled and something in his eyes relaxed. Worry I hadn’t seen until that moment disappeared. He gave me one of his oh so charming lopsided smiles and pulled me closer to kiss me.

Heart to Heart Mondays (5): 2015 goals, resolutions and wishes

2014 has been a long year for me, with some personal issues and family troubles, so I struggled a little with reading and read less than normally, with longer reading slumps. I still managed to complete my Goodreads reading challenge with 303 books, but it was still less than previous years. 2015 will hopefully be more exciting, more inspiring and full of many fantastic reads.

I started with challenging myself with less books from the beginning, 250, and to write at least 50 reviews because I have been slacking in that departement too.

There are so many books I was excited to read in 2014, some from my favorite series, and I havent read them yet so I plan on doing that in January and February. To name a few, those would be Heir of Fire, Exquisite captive, Talon, Havoc, Trial by Fire, Sinner, and a few of series-ending books or other books that have been on my TBR list for awhile I have been putting of like Allegiant, Hidden, Shadows in the silence, All our yesterdays, The Raven Boys, Siege and storm, The Fiery Heart and plenty others.

Also, I have compiled a list of topics for Heart to Heart Mondays, I know there were only a few of them but for this year, I will try to post at least two a month. I have been brainstorming a little, and I found a little bit of inspiration that was seriously lacking last year, and hopefully the result will be interesting to readers and while some topics may not be the most original out there, I will try to write my take on them, so maybe that will make this blog a little fresh. I have been  writing this blog for two and a half years, and I love doing it, anything book related will always own a huge part of my life, I hope you stay on this journey with me and I make some new friends this year, explore many worlds and people through reading and that 2015 is the best year yet.

Happy New Year everyone!

Black Widow (Elemental Assassin #12) by Jennifer Estep (Review + Playlist)

There’s nothing worse than a cruel, cunning enemy with time to kill—and my murder to plan.

With wicked Fire elemental Mab Monroe long gone, you’d think I could finally catch a break. But someone’s always trying to take me down, either as Gin Blanco or my assassin alter-ago. Now along comes the Spider’s new arch-nemesis, the mysteriously named M. M. Monroe, who is gleefully working overtime to trap me in a sticky web of deceit.

The thing is, I’m not the only target. I can see through the tangled threads enough to know that every bit of bad luck my friends have been having lately is no accident—and that each unfortunate “coincidence” is just one more arrow drawing ever closer to hitting the real bulls-eye. Though new to Ashland, this M. M. Monroe is no stranger to irony, trying to get me, an assassin, framed for murder. Yet, as my enemy’s master plan is slowly revealed, I have a sinking feeling that it will take more than my powerful Ice and Stone magic to stop my whole life from going up in flames.

My Review:

One thing you need to know about Jennifer Estep and this series is that it only gets better with every new book. I never expected that with each new installment of Elemental Assassin I would continue to get surprised, petrified and so angry, but Black Widow is, for a 12th book in the series, still fresh and full of action, great banter and fight scenes and this time, the villain is more cunning than ever.
After Mab Monroe, I didnt think Gin would have to face a someone worse, but I was wronf. M.M. Monroe is depraved, wicked smart and unpredictable and she almost got the drop on Gin but as we know our favorite assassin, she never goes down without a fight. I loved seeing Gin and Owen together again, they are amazing together, after everything they have been together, their trust and faith in each other is astounding. My favorite, Finn, is still prissy and funny and this series wouldnt be this good without him. Of course, I always love reading about Sophia, Xavier, Bria and Philip. The writing the storytelling and the world building are still amazing, I love the setting of this series, I especially love Pork Pit.
I am curious how will things fall into place after the events of this book so I am eagerly awaiting the next book. I know Gin wont let me down nor Ms. Estep.

I hear your voice in my sleep at nightHard to resist temptation
'Cause something strange has come over me
And now I can’t get over you
No, I just can’t get over you

I was there for you
In your darkest times
I was there for you
In your darkest nights

I can see
When you stay low nothing happens
Does it feel right?
Late at night
Things I thought I put behind me
Haunt my mind
I just know there's no escape
Now once it sets its eyes on you
But I won't run,
Have to stare it in the eye
Stand my ground, I won't give in
No more denying, I've got to face it
Won't close my eyes and hide the truth inside
If I don't make it, someone else will
Stand my ground

Hard-hearted don't worry I'm ready for a fight.
Unnerved, the nerve, you're nervous, nervous that I'm right.
Hard-hearted don't worry I'm ready for a fight.
Unnerved, the nerve, you're nervous, nervous that I'm right.

Now with your cause and affection on my mind,
I won't yield, throw caution into the blaze.
Oh, now you know you know it now.
And so, now you know you know it now.

At the curtain’s call
It's the last of all
When the lights fade out
All the sinners crawl
So they dug your grave
And the masquerade
Will come calling out
At the mess you made
Don't wanna let you down
But I am hell bound
Though this is all for you
Don't wanna hide the truth

One way or another I'm gonna find ya
I'm gonna getcha getcha getcha getcha
One way or another I'm gonna win ya
I'll getcha, I'll getcha
One way or another I'm gonna see ya
I'm gonna meetcha meetcha meetcha meetcha
One day, maybe next week
I'm gonna meetcha, I'll meetcha

Quote of the week (9): From Falling away by Penelope Douglas

First of all, since this is my first post of 2015, I want to wish you all a happy New Year and all the best in 2015. I have not been around lately, I had some personal stuff to deal with, but hopefully, I will be around more from now. I have a Heart to heart mondays post prepared for you on 12th, with all my bookish resolutions, wishes and some new stuff that will be coming up on Between fantasy and reality, so I hope you check it out. Now, time for my first Quote of the week post in 2015.
I chose a quote from Falling away by Penelope Douglas. I have waited for some time for Jax s story, and it was well worth it. He is a special character and Juliet is a perfect match for him. Here goes:

“He gave us three irrefutible pieces of advice about the male species:
1. Boys will lie, cheat, and steal to get into your pants. A man will stand the test of time. Make him wait, and you'll see which one he is.
2. They will try to tell you that it feels better without a condom. You just tell me where they live.
3. And relationships are supposed to make your life better. You don't drag each other down. You hold each other up.”

Have you started this series? Who is your favorite character?
Do you have a quote of the week?
Leave me a comment.
