Deity (Covenant #3) by Jennifer L. Armentrout

"History is on repeat, and things didn't go so well the last time. "

Alexandria isn't sure she's going to make it to her eighteenth birthday--to her Awakening. A long-forgotten, fanatical order is out to kill her, and if the Council ever discovers what she did in the Catskills, she's a goner... and so is Aiden.

If that's not freaky enough, whenever Alex and Seth spend time "training"--which really is just Seth's code word for some up-close and personal one-on-one time--she ends up with another mark of the
Apollyon, which brings her one step closer to Awakening ahead of schedule. Awesome.
But as her birthday draws near, her entire world shatters with a startling revelation and she's caught between love and Fate. One will do anything to protect her. One has been lying to her since the beginning. Once the gods have revealed themselves, unleashing their wrath, lives will be irrevocably changed... and destroyed.

Those left standing will discover if love is truly greater than Fate...

My review:

Wow. And I mean wow. I cant even begin to describe everything I love about thisa book so I am not even going to try. I just have to say it is perfect. Everything, from the character developement to a lot of answers we get in this book. The surprises Jennifer threw our way in this book made me speechless and sometimes angry and frustrated and the ending of the book just stopped my breathing. Aiden is my number one now. I never completely trusted Seth but this completely blew me away. But I still have hope, just like Alex. Aiden Simply wow. I love him. This series is one of my favorites and Deity in the top few of this year. I rarely read a book that surprises me so much. I also loved the glimpses of the gods we have in this book and I want to know what is with Deacon and "Leon". Apollyon cant come soon enough.

Pure (Covenant #2) by Jennifer L. Armentrout

There is need. And then there is Fate
Being destined to become some kind of supernatural electrical outlet isn't exactly awesome--especially when Alexandria's "other half" is everywhere she goes. Seth's in her training room, outside her classes, and keeps showing up in her bedroom--so not cool. Their connection does have some benefits, like staving off her nightmares of the tragic showdown with her mother, but it has no effect on what Alex feels for the forbidden, pure-blooded Aiden. Or what he will do--and sacrifice--for her.
When daimons infiltrate the Covenants and attack students, the gods send furies--lesser gods determined to eradicate any threat to the Covenants and to the gods, and that includes the Apollyon and Alex. And if that and hordes of aether-sucking monsters didn't blow bad enough, a mysterious threat seems willing to do anything to neutralize Seth, even if that means forcing Alex into servitude or killing her.
When the gods are involved, some decisions can never, ever be undone.

My review:

A little better than the first one and a little bit more interesting. There were a lot of emotional moments with a lot of steamy ones and also there was pain and heartbreak. I was crying so hard in a few chapters and a few made me laugh. That was mostly Seth. I never trusted him but he is an unpredictible and a funny guy which makes me like him. In this book Aiden made me hate him and then he made me fall in love with him. I liked his jelaous side. This is the book that made me both team Aiden and team Seth and I just couldnt decide. This series keeps getting better with every book.

Half-Blood (Covenant #1) by Jennifer L. Armentrout

The Hematoi descend from the unions of gods and mortals, and the children of two Hematoi-pure-bloods-have godlike powers. Children of Hematoi and mortals-well, not so much. Half-bloods only have two options: become trained Sentinels who hunt and kill daimons or become servants in the homes of the pures. Seventeen-year-old Alexandria would rather risk her life fighting than waste it scrubbing toilets, but she may end up slumming it anyway. There are several rules that students at the Covenant must follow. Alex has problems with them all, but especially rule #1:Relationships between pures and halfs are forbidden. Unfortunately, she's crushing hard on the totally hot pure-blood Aiden. But falling for Aiden isn't her biggest problem--staying alive long enough to graduate the Covenant and become a Sentinel is. If she fails in her duty, she faces a future worse than death or slavery: being turned into a daimon, and being hunted by Aiden. And that would kind of suck.

My review:

I thought I could not love this series more but re-reading it made me fall in love with it all over again. I love the characters, the story and how Jennifer L. Armentrout always manages to surprise me. Alex is one of the thoughest heroines in YA and I love her courage and her "sass". Aiden is a sweetie and a really great guy but something makes me not like me. I think it is just that, even though I now know better, seth is my kind of guy. His sarcasm and everything that comes out of his mouth is priceless. Caleb is also another great character. A true best friend. This first book in the series was interesting with a few surprises and a couple of really hot moments that just make you fan yourselves

Daimon (Covenant 0.5) by Jennifer L. Armentrout

"Love in my world usually ended up with someone hearing 'I smite thee ' as she was cursed to be some lame flower for the rest of her life." For three years, Alexandria has lived among mortals--pretending to be like them and trying to forget the duty she'd been trained to fulfill as a child of a mortal and a demigod. At seventeen, she's pretty much accepted that she's a freak by mortal standards... and that she'll never be prepared for that duty. According to her mother, that's a good thing. But as every descendant of the gods knows, Fate has a way of rearing her ugly head. A horrifying attack forces Alex to flee Miami and try to find her way back to the very place her mother had warned her she should never return-the Covenant. Every step that brings her closer to safety is one more step toward death... because she's being hunted by the very creatures she'd once trained to kill. The daimons have found her.

My review:

The prequel to the Covenant series was better than I expected. I always liked Alex but I thought that the absence of Seth and Aiden would make things a little bit boring. I am glad I was wrong. It was fast paced, full of action and Alex's witty comebacks along with a little bit of not serious romance. It explains so much from Alex's past, it shows us what exactly happened on the night when her mother was turned daimon and how Alex coped with that and what she was doing after, before Aiden and other sentinels found her. So, this prequel was really great and necessary for the series. Of course, I missed Seth and Aiden ( although he appeared in the end ) but the novella was interesting enough without them and it shoved what a great character Alex is.

Fourth Grave Beneath My Feet (Charley Davidson #4)

Sometimes being the grim reaper really is that. Grim. And since Charley’s last case went so awry, she has taken a couple months off to wallow in the wonders of self-pity. But when a woman shows up on her doorstep convinced someone is trying to kill her, Charley has to force herself to rise above. Or at least get dressed. She quickly realizes something is amiss when everyone the woman knows swears she’s insane. The more they refute the woman’s story, the more Charley believes it.

In the meantime, the sexy, sultry son of Satan, Reyes Farrow, has been cleared of all charges. He is out of prison and out of Charley’s life, as per her wishes and several perfectly timed death threats. But his absence has put a serious crimp in her sex life. While there are other things to consider, like the fact that the city of Albuquerque has been taken hostage by an arsonist, Charley is having a difficult time staying away. Especially when it looks like Reyes may be involved. Just when life was returning to normal, Charley is thrust back into the world of crime, punishment, and the devil in blue jeans.

My review:

I really missed Charley. She is one of my favorite characters of all time and it was a pleasure reading about her again. Since this is on of my favorite series, I truly look forward to the sequels and Fourth grave beneath my feet didnt dissappoint. It was even more funnier and interesting than the previous books but it also had a little something extra. Charley is not the same person she was before all due to the torture she endured at the hands of Earl Walker so it was very interesting to see how she was coping with it all but it was also laced with humor specific only for Charley. Reyes is, well, still the same secretive Reyes although he became a little bit more talkative. The chemistry and emotions between him and Charley still sizzle and their problems are not nearly over but I have hope they will resolve it all in the future. I missed Garett in this book,he wasnt himself and I want to know more about his <> . Cookie is still her loving and funny self. I like the Donovan guy, he really cares for Charley and he sure is hot so maybe there will also be something including him more in future books. The case Charley was working on in this book was really interesting and I must say, I didnt see that ending coming and I never suspecetd anything.
Darynda Jones always writes an exciting, interesting book with unique story and characters and with humor that often makes me laugh out loud while reading. Some of the sentences are really precious in that way. Everyone should read this series. I am certain anyone who does, will love it as much as I do.

Unholy Ghosts (Downside Ghosts #1)

The world is not the way it was. The dead have risen, and the living are under attack. The powerful Church of Real Truth, in charge since the government fell, has sworn to reimburse citizens being harassed by the deceased. Enter Chess Putnam, a fully tattooed witch and freewheeling ghost hunter. She’s got a real talent for banishing the wicked dead. But Chess is keeping a dark secret: She owes a lot of money to a murderous drug lord named Bump, who wants immediate payback in the form of a

dangerous job that involves black magic, human sacrifice, a nefarious demonic creature, and enough wicked energy to wipe out a city of souls. Toss in lust for a rival gang leader and a dangerous attraction to Bump’s ruthless enforcer, and Chess begins to wonder if the rush is really worth it. Hell, yeah.

My review:

I think this series will be a hit with me. Being the first book in the higly praised series, I expected it will be good. But I was surprised to find it great. Very imaginative writing, story and characters. I like the world Kane built so far, it is dark but unique and mind blowing. I must say I am team Terrible even though I like Lex too. But Terrible is just, mmm, I dont have words for it. The storyline is very interesting, I like the idea of this dystopian world with Church in the lead but where there is no religion, only facts. I like how Chess works to solve cases, I aolways loved books that have puzzles to solve. It is a bit disturbing to see through the eyes of a drug addict, but that only makes the series more unique and it feels very real to read about her addiction. Chess is a character that went through a lot in her life ( that is an understatement) but is still standing and is still fighting to survive even though her ways are definetly not healthy. I cannot wait to see what happens next with her and Terrible and with her life. Downside sure is an interesting place to read about.

Being blackmailed into a fake relationship with Chad Gamble isn’t easy, especially when the sizzling physical attraction between them is undeniable. With a month to go on their arranged pretense, it's going to take every ounce of willpower they have not to fall into bed together...or in love.

My review:

Since I enjoyed reading Tempting the best man and the Gamble brothers intrigued me so I couldn wait to read Chads story. I really liked Bridget and Chad. Sure, he is a "player" but there is more to him than meets the eye. Bridget is really funny and a very good person. I think that they are perfect for each other. The storyline was interesting. I liked the idea and how it was realized. They really have chemistry and some scenes were really steamy. Miss Gore was a character I didnt really like but I see that she and Chandler will get their story in Tempting the bodyguard. I hope she is a different person than I think she is. I also liked the glimpses we saw of Maddie and Chase. I missed them. Si, this series is a really good read for romance novels fans and you wont regret reading it.
