Seventh Grave and No Body (Charley Davidson #7) by Darynda Jones (Review in GIFs)

Twelve. Twelve of the deadliest beasts ever forged in the fires of hell have escaped onto our plane, and they want nothing more than to rip out the jugular of Charley Davidson and serve her lifeless, mangled body to Satan for dinner. So there’s that. But Charley has more on her plate than a mob of testy hellhounds. For one thing, her father has disappeared, and the more she retraces his last steps, the more she learns he was conducting an investigation of his own, one that has Charley questioning everything she’s ever known about him. Add to that an ex-BFF who is haunting her night and day, a rash of suicides that has authorities baffled, and a drop-dead sexy fiancé who has attracted the attentions of a local celebrity, and Charley is not having the best week of her life.

A tad north of hell, a hop, skip, and a jump past the realm of eternity, is a little place called Earth, and Charley Davidson, grim reaper extraordinaire, is determined to do everything in her power to protect it.

We’re doomed.

My review:

“One thing I’d learned growing up: People were never, ever, ever 100 percent honest about their feelings.

I decided on doing a GIF only review for this book because I have no words. I adore Darynda and the world and characters she created and this is the best book yet, and that is saying something since they are all exceptional...

“I’m like crack. People don’t want to like me, but once they get a taste, they always come back for more.”

Waiting on Wednesday (73)

Waiting On Wednesday is a weekly event, hosted by Breaking the Spine, thatspotlights upcoming  releases that we're eagerly anticipating. This is my choice for this week:

by Colleen Hoover

Expected publication: March 10th 2015 by Atria Books

From #1 New York Times bestselling author Colleen Hoover, a new novel about risking everything for love—and finding your heart somewhere between the truth and lies.

Auburn Reed has her entire life mapped out. Her goals are in sight and there’s no room for mistakes. But when she walks into a Dallas art studio in search of a job, she doesn’t expect to find a deep attraction to the enigmatic artist who works there, Owen Gentry.

For once, Auburn takes a risk and puts her heart in control, only to discover Owen is keeping major secrets from coming out. The magnitude of his past threatens to destroy everything important to Auburn, and the only way to get her life back on track is to cut Owen out of it.

The last thing Owen wants is to lose Auburn, but he can’t seem to convince her that truth is sometimes as subjective as art. All he would have to do to save their relationship is confess. But in this case, the confession could be much more destructive than the actual sin…

Blog tour: Camp Forget-Me-Not (Camp Boyfriend #3) by J.K. Rock (eARC Review + Giveaway)

Playing it safe and fitting in may have rocketed Kayla West into the In crowd at Camp Juniper Point, but it's left her lonely. The only person she's ever been herself with was her former best friend, Nick, an outsider that pushed her to join the most popular girls cabin two years ago. Too bad being a Diva meant pressure to break up with Nick. Of course, Kayla had her reasons, but Nick can never know the real one. She always thought she'd forget him one day and move on. Until he returns to camp a super-hot Olympian snowboarder. Now, every girl wants him and Nick seems determined to show her what a mistake she made. Or at least, she thought that's what he wanted. But when Nick starts sending her private notes--just like he used to--she wonders what kind of game he's playing. Nick's attention is making it tougher to stay in the background and play in safe, forcing Kayla to make a decision--stay on the sidelines and get overlooked? Or take a chance on trusting Nick and, maybe... herself.

My Review:

Check out my review of the first book in the series, Camp Boyfriend here

This is a great conclusion to the trilogy, although there will be a novella published this year to finally tell the end of Seth s story. I was looking forward to Kayla and her story and meeting Nick since this is the first book he appears while the other characters we met in Camp Boyfriend. Emily is still my favorite character in this series along with Alex, they are such positive people and really helpful and non-judgemental. Kayla seemed always like a follower through the story from the first two books, she is afraid of speaking up and being left friendless even though it seems the friends she has are not that great. But when Nick comes to the camp, her former best friend who she seemingly rejected to be a part of the popular group, she is starting to change. She slowly, but surely, starts fighting for the right thing, for herself and for others and she will not accept being played.
Nick is a guy who I wanted to like from the start, since he was the wrong party and all, but he was just playing games and being to competitive, basically, a jerk. But when through the story we find out about his past and family situation, all tied with Kayla s rejection years ago, underneath we find a pretty sweet guy who always loved the same girl.
The writing is great as usual, I love the camp activities and the nature descriptions, it is a magical place that I wish existed in Croatia. I will miss Camp Juniper but I still have Seth and Trinity s story to look forward to.

Heart to Heart Mondays (4): Plans for Halloween and scary book recommendations

I adore Halloween.. Here in Croatia it is not as big a deal as it is in USA but we are slowly getting there. There are more parties every year, more people in costumes and if it werent for the people who pray for our lost souls in church every Halloween, it would be great. I have a little Halloween tradition, I watch the entire Season 2 of Supernatural all day and night, with a little bit of snacks and wine but this year I am probably going out since it is my best friends birthday. And I will be in costume.. Lady Beetlejuice :) I also just started watching American Horror Story: Asylum and this is my first season of watching the show. There is no show more appropriate for the month of October.. It is super scary, bizzare, bloody, disturbing and full of great acting
Now, I also have a few Halloween book recommendation for you, some I have read and some I will be reading this week for the first time. Here we go:

Sookie Stackhouse series is perfect for Halloween, sometimes scary, sometimes funny, full of strange creatures and, of course, blood.
Between the Devil and the deep blue Sea and Between the Spark and the Burn is a two book gothic tale with chilling tone and creepy stuff happening. I will be reading the second book this week.
The Hallowed Ones is a storywith vampires, but in a Amish community. It is full of scary.
Enclave, and the other books in the Razorland trilogy, is just a perfect read, especially in October, full of blood and gore, and numbing fear.
Insomnia and Anna dressed in blood are also the books I will be reading for the first time this week but were higly recommended to me for the scary factor.
Undead is a zombie book, funny and terrifying at the same time. The same with Married with Zombies which is full of marriage problems in the midst of a zombie apocalypse, hilarious and horrifying.

And that would be all.

What are you doing this Halloween? Do you have any traditions?
Which scary books would you recommend?
Leave me a comment and have a great and scary Halloween :)

Quote of the week (5)

The quote of this week comes from a series that is in my top 3 favorites of all time and the seventh book in the series was as awesome as the rest. I am always in awe of Darynda Jones and her writing, the world she built and the characters she created are just perfect so this week s quote is  from Seventh Grave and no Body. If you havent started this series yet, what are you waiting for ?!

Still covered in duct tape, he turned on his side to face me, his flesh straining against the binds. “You would tell me if something were wrong, right?”
“What do you mean? Of course, I would.”
“So, if you knew something could happen to you, you’d let me know.”
Where was he going with this? “Yes. Nothing is going to happen to me. Well, unless the Twelve get ahold of me. Other than that, I should be fine.”
He nodded in thought.
“Reyes, what is it?”
“I think you keep secrets from me.”
“You keep secrets from me,” I said, teasing. “Seems only fair.”

And a few quotes that mark every chapter in Charley Davidson series, usually a bumber sticker quote or from a T-shirt:

“I often question my sanity. Occasionally, it replies.”

“A wine, please.” “Ma’am, this is McDonald’s.” “Okay, a McWine, please.” —

And you can enter a giveaway fro one of 5 HC copies of Seventh Grave and no Body here

Have you started this series? Who is your favorite character?
Do you have a quote of the week?

READ-A-LONG: The World Without a Future (Chapters 41-45) by Nazarea Andrews

Pageflex Persona [document: PRS0000026_00033]

This is the second week of the the read-a-long blog tour for THE WORLD WITHOUT A FUTURE by Nazarea Andrews. This is book #1 in 'The World Without End' series. Book #2, The Horde Without End is available now and the third book in the series, The World Without Hope, will be released on November 20th.

Each site will be hosting a summary of 5 chapters from THE WORLD WITHOUT A FUTURE. You can check out Nazarea's comments on those chapters below.

by Nazarea Andrews

The first chapter we have today is a quiet moment with Nurrin and Finn. There’s the snarky back and forth, but it’s also as close to gentle as Finn ever gets. And then we see how angry Omar can make Finn, and how little he trusts the other man. We see a hint of what happened between Omar and Finn and how it includes the mysterious Kelsey. On the way back to Haven 18, we see a couple things: one is the first line of chapter 9: The truck feels like home. I think that is very telling, because it suggest a comfort that we haven’t seen in Ren before now. And we see a horde. Not a handful of zombies, like we’ve seen in the past, or even the horde that overran Vegas before they reach the Stronghold. Here we see the type of horde that can take down a Haven, the type of horde that Finn is trying to warn havens about. Once we get back to 18, Finn hands over the information that should get them the medicine that will save Dustin’s life (remember Dustin??) and he knows he’s been manipulated. That really really bothers him, but he’s at a point that he just deals with it so he can focus on the important thing—getting back to Collin.

She was born the day the world ended… Nurrin has lived her entire life with zombies—trapped behind walls meant to keep them safe. She’s mostly happy there. But when a zombie horde breech the walls of her Haven, she has to trust her brother, Collin, and his best friend to keep her alive. He just wants his past to die… Finn O’Malley has given up on voicing warnings that are ignored. No one cares that the zombies are changing. Now all that matters is keeping Collin and Nurrin safe from what’s outside the walls of a Haven. But when Nurrin’s best friend picks up a contact infection, he agrees to get the medicine needed to save his life. Forced together, relying on each other in a strange Haven, zombies aren’t the most dangerous thing they’re facing.

Release Day Launch: ROWDY ( Marked Men #5)by Jay Crownover (Excerpt + Giveaway)

ROWDY RDL Banner 2

We are over the moon excited to bring you the Release Day Launch for ROWDY by Jay Crownover!! ROWDY is the fifth novel in her Marked Men Series published by William Morrow, and imprint of HarperCollins and you do NOT want to miss it!

WHEN I PUT THE key he had given me in the door to his apartment it felt like the end of a long journey. Really it was only a little over twelve hours and I had stopped to nap once along the way, but it still felt like too long since I had seen his face or been able to touch all that toned and tattooed skin. Jimbo greeted me at the door when I pushed it open. His tongue lolled out of his mouth and he jumped up and put his paws on my legs. He was going to be huge when he finally grew into his fuzzy body and I was overwhelmed at how happy I was to see him. I dropped to my knees and rubbed my face in his neck as he licked me all over my face. I was obviously missed and I had to say it was just one more reason I knew I was finally where I was supposed to be. It was late, so the apartment was dark. I checked the dog’s food and water, trying to be quiet in case Rowdy was already asleep. I was winding my way toward his bedroom when a haphazardly discarded sketch pad lying on the couch caught my eye in the dim light. I paused for a minute to pick it up and felt my heart stop and then start to race as I flipped through the first few pages. There were a couple of drawings that were obviously for clients, tattoos that hadn’t made it from paper to skin yet, but most of the pristine white pages were covered with images wearing my face. There was mermaid me, and naughty- sailor- girl me. There was sassy Indian girl me with long Pocahontas braids and there was sexy devil me standing next to angelic me. There were dozens of them all in different shapes and sizes, but every single image was undoubtedly modeled after my distinct look. I wasn’t sure if he had drawn them all over this last week while I had been gone or over the months we had been chasing each other in circles. Either way it made my heart swell and the full certainty that I was it for him settle deep inside my bones. I set the pad down and tiptoed through the hall. Jimbo took one look at where I was going and huffed out a disgusted- sounding snort. The poor guy had learned early on that he wanted no part of what happened between his humans when they were together in the bedroom. The light was off and Rowdy was sprawled on his stomach across the covers. His blond hair was sticking up every- where and he hand one arm bent up under his head. The only thing that could have made the sight better would have been if he hadn’t bothered with the black boxers before crashing out. Even with them obscuring the view, I couldn’t complain. I let out a breathless sigh and crept closer so that I could lean over and touch my lips to that anchor on the side of his neck. I felt his pulse leap and tasted the salt on his skin as he murmured sleepily and rolled over onto his back. Those infinitely blue eyes glowed at me in the dark as a grin pulled up the corner of his mouth. “Hey.”

  Rowdy Teaser 2

The New York Times and USA Today bestselling Marked Men series continues with this sizzling, sexy story of love, heartbreak, fate, and second chances. After the only girl he ever loved told him that he would never be enough, Rowdy St. James knocked the Texas dust off his boots and set out to live up to his nickname. A good ol’ boy looking for good times and good friends, Rowdy refuses to take anything too seriously, especially when it comes to the opposite sex. Burned by love once, he isn’t going to let himself trust a woman again. But that’s before his new co-worker arrives, a ghost from the past who’s suddenly making him question every lesson he ever learned. Salem Cruz grew up in house with too many rules and too little fun—a world of unhappiness she couldn’t wait to forget. But one nice thing from childhood has stayed with her; the memory of the sweet, blue-eyed boy next door who’d been head over heels in love with her little sister. Now, fate and an old friend have brought her and Rowdy together, and Salem is determined to show him that once upon a time he picked the wrong sister. A mission that is working perfectly—until the one person that ties them together appears, threatening to tear them apart for good.

Sensual portrait of beautiful girl with tattoo lying on bed.
