eARC Review: The Forever Song (Blood of Eden #3) by Julie Kagawa

Summary:

VENGEANCE WILL BE HERS

Allison Sekemoto once struggled with the question: human or monster?

With the death of her love, Zeke, she has her answer.

MONSTER

Allie will embrace her cold vampire side to hunt down and end Sarren, the psychopathic vampire who murdered Zeke. But the trail is bloody and long, and Sarren has left many surprises for Allie and her companions—her creator, Kanin, and her blood brother, Jackal. The trail is leading straight to the one place they must protect at any cost—the last vampire-free zone on Earth, Eden. And Sarren has one final, brutal shock in store for Allie.

In a ruined world where no life is sacred and former allies can turn on you in one heartbeat, Allie will face her darkest days. And if she succeeds, triumph is short-lived in the face of surviving forever alone.

My review:

“You are simply using your demon to hide from what you really feel. Because you are afraid of what that means, that it might be painful. It is far easier to be a monster than to confront the truth.”

Check out my review of The Eternity cure .

When I read Immortal rules I was intrugued with how the author imagined the world and the characters she brought to the story. In The Eternity cure I was impressed with the developement of the storyline, the dynamics between the characters and that she created an Villain so vile, I cant remember I hated a character that much.
The Forever song is the final book in Blood of Eden trilogy and after the way the second one ended, I was in tears and afraid of what will come next. I have to say I was impressed with the progression of the story and the subtle and not so subtle changes in characters. Allie is on a path to revenge, after everything that happened she wont stop until she kills Sarren and stops him from spreading the new virus. That path is really dangerous fro her, she lost herself to her grief and didnt really care anymore so her humanity was at risk. Kanin tried but there wasnt really anything he could do to bring back the real Allie, she had to realise herself what shee has become and make the decision to change. Jackal was the light in the dark story. His sarcasm always managed to bring a smile to myself even in the middle of blood and death. There were some unexpected developements, they gave me chills and broke my heart but this story was so dark from the beginning, I knew there will be bad things happenning. The ending broke me a little, I was hoping it wouldnt come to that (you will see when you read it) but I knew it couldnt be avoided. There was hope in the ending though. It made me smile. I hope everyone enjoys this ending as much as I did, it was an unforgetable ride. Julie kagawa is the master of storytelling and I am excited for Talon.

“Humans are ever resilient, and their will to live surpasses everything else. Do not lose hope, Allison.”
