The Eternity cure (Blood of Eden #2) by Julie Kagawa

Allison Sekemoto has vowed to rescue her creator, Kanin, who is being held hostage and tortured by the psychotic vampire Sarren. The call of blood leads her back to the beginning—New Covington and the Fringe, and a vampire prince who wants her dead yet may become her wary ally.

Even as Allie faces shocking revelations and heartbreak like she’s never known, a new strain of the Red Lung virus that decimated humanity is rising to threaten human and vampire alike.

My review:

I read Immortal rules only a few weeks ago so everything was still fresh in my mind and if The Eternity cure didnt come out when it did, I think I would go insane. I loved Kagawa's Iron fey series and ever since I heard about her writing a book with a dystopian world ruled by vampires, I was intrigued. Vampires are my favorite creatures and I love to read new interpretations and characteristics that writers come up with. In this case, the end result was a little frightening and unique and interesting. I love the characters Julie created, especially Alle, Kanin and Jackal. Three different people, with different views of the wolrd yet closely connected. Allie is determined and brave, Kanin wise and intelligent, and Jackal brings a humor to the story that is very welcome. The romance between Allie and Zeke is there, they try to fight to be together and Zeke has warmed his way in my heart, although I wasn't impressed in Immortal rules. Sarren is a vile villain, after the ending to the book I hate him very much and I hope he loses his head in the end. After the emotional rollacoaster at the ending of this book, I am very interested how will Kagawa finish this series.

Blog tour: Blessed fate by HB Heinzer + GIVEAWAY

Colton Bradford never believed in love at first sight. And then, Rain Maxwell walked through his buddy's front door. He knew there was something special underneath the shy, guarded exterior and was determined to find out what it was.
The problem? Rain had devised her own set of life rules and “Never get involved with a band mate” was right near the top of that list. She allowed Colton into her heart as one of her closest friends, but pushed him away at the mention of anything more.
When tragedy strikes Rain's personal life, Colton is determined to be there for her in whatever way she'll allow. Will she finally open up to him and consider taking things to the next level? Will Colton's ways of trying to bury his feelings for Rain in the past ruin the possibility of a future for them?

My review:

What can I say? Give me a book with a rock band in the center of it and I am sold. This book tells the story of Colton and Rain from Coltons POV and it wa great to see how his love for his friend developed and how it grew stronger yet we alos see how he is not perfect when he sleeps with Tanya. And that girl is just bleh. I think I hated her from the start and the things she did were seriously messed up. Rain is also messed up, dealing with tragedy and really growing up will do that to you, but she finally admits to herself that she loves her best friend. The band was awesome, I loved their banter and their support, sometimes I would laugh out loud to the things that came out of their mouth. And the hotness factor in this book is skyhigh. A great summer read.

-Barnes & Noble:

My review:

This book was a nice summer read. It is a story about an abused girl who escapes her life in search of a better one, and one day she finds it. Rook was an interesting character, it was good to see her thougts, how she wants to finally be independent and make her own decisions which she never could before because of her abusive ex-boyfriend. Ronin, however, has made some bad decisions in his life, but from the outside he looks like he has everything. I think that Rook and Ronin are perfect for each other. After signing the STURGIS contract, I am really interested what will happen neyt with them and will they be able to overcome each new obstacle in their way.

J. A. Huss likes to write new adult books that make you think and keep you guessing. Her favorite genre to read is space opera, but since practically no one reads those books, she writes new adult science fiction, paranormal romance, contemporary romance, urban fantasy, and books about Junco (who refuses to be saddled with a label).

She has an undergraduate degree in horses, (yes, really–Thank you, Colorado State University) and a master’s degree in forensic toxicology from the University of Florida. She used to have a job driving around Colorado doing pretty much nothing but shooting the breeze with farmers, but now she just writes, runs the New Adult Addiction and Clean Teen Reads Book Blogs, and runs an online science classroom for homeschoolers.

Dead ever after (Sookie Stackhouse #13) by Charlaine Harris

Sookie Stackhouse finds it easy to turn down the request of former barmaid Arlene when she wants her job back at Merlotte’s. After all, Arlene tried to have Sookie killed. But her relationship with Eric Northman is not so clearcut. He and his vampires are keeping their distance… and a cold silence. And when Sookie learns the reason why, she is devastated.

Then a shocking murder rocks Bon Temps, and Sookie is arrested for the crime.

But the evidence against Sookie is weak, and she makes bail. Investigating the killing, she’ll learn that what passes for truth in Bon Temps is only a convenient lie. What passes for justice is more spilled blood. And what passes for love is never enough…

My review

I debated for a long time wether to give the final book in this series 3 or 4 stars. While unlike most people I wasnt dissapointed how it ended some things were still confusing and it would be better if they were explained more. It is hard to say goodbye to a series you worshiped for years and to characters who became very important to you. Sookie, Sam, Eric, Pam, Bill, Alcide, Quinn, Jason, Tara and all the other characters will always stay with me. A lot happens in this book and if you want to avoid spoilers, I suggest you stop reading.. A few murders, Sookie being blamed for one, the end of her vampire marriage to Eric, Erics new arrangment to marry Freyda, a steamy scene with Sookie and Sam, a posibility of a HEA between them plus a few betrayals and plots to kill Sookie, those are all the things that made this book surprising.. I wont say that there werent things I didnt like, but those things pale in the end. I understand why a lot of fans were dissapointed with this book, I was a fan of Eric the entire series and I still am, I just dont think he and Sookie were right for each other because there werent a real future for them as a couple. Now, I must say goodbye to all these characters. It was a pleasure.

Blog tour: Fall From Love by Heather London + GIVEAWAY

Fall From Love by Heather London
Publication date: June 7th 2013
Genre: New Adult Contemporary

Struggling to put her life back together after a tragic mountaineering accident kills her college sweetheart, twenty-one-year-old Holly Treadwell is trying to set aside her grief, forge ahead in school, and find herself again.

When Carter Hansen, a guy who brings back horrible memories from the night of the accident, finds his way back into her life, Holly’s unsure  if she should let him in. He terrifies her in more ways than one and invokes feelings in her that she thought were buried forever. Regardless of her fears, she knows she must face him in order for her heart to heal.

Everyone tells Carter that what happened on the mountain that night was just a terrible accident, but even then, he can’t help but carry around the guilt and is unable to forgive himself. He’s drawn to Holly and being near her helps ease his conscience and gives him the release he needs.

As Holly and Carter’s relationship grows, they begin to realize that the more time they spend with one another, the more their wounds begin to heal—her grief and his guilt. But when Holly learns the details about the night of the accident—what everyone has been keeping from her—it will rip open old wounds and tear apart what they’ve both worked so hard to overcome…

My review:

Fall from love is a book about how a young woman tries to overcome her grief in losing her boyfriend in an accident and accepting new love in her life. The read is very emotional, you cant help but feel for Holly and most of all, you cant help but understand her. She is numb from grief, yet little by little, she opens up to her best friend again, tries to have fun and she learns to avoid the future. Carter is a  really sweet guy, overwhelmed by guilt over the death of Hollys boyfriend but he refuses to see he didnt do anything wrong. Since Carter was the one to tell Holly of Adams death, she avoids him but soon enough they start a tentative friendship wich in the end blooms into love. This was an interesting story to read, a story which tells us how to let go and accept life.

Forever too far (Too Far #3) by Abbi Glines

Rush promised her forever...
  but promises can be broken.

Torn between his love for his family and his love for Blaire, Rush has to find a way to save one without losing the other. In the end one has to be more important. Letting go isn’t easy.

Blaire believed in her fairytale...
but no one can live in a fantasy.

Her love for Rush and desire to have a family keep her believing that they can find a way for this to work. Until she has to make the right decision for her and the baby. Even if it breaks her heart.

Can they find the forever that they both want or has it all just gone... too far?

My review:

I read all the books Abbi Glines published but this series is my favorite along with Existence. This is the final chapter of a story about two people who love each other very much but the question throughout the series is if love is enough to overcome many obstacles that are thrown their way. Rush is an interesting character, he has his swoony moments but sometimes I just want to smack him. After everything Nan did, he still couldnt see her for who she really is but finally, when I thought all is lost, he gets it and tries to make it right. Blare is an ok character. She lets Rush get away with too much but sometimes she is kick-ass awesome like with the gun. This book had many hot scenes, swoony moments (the song *sigh*), new revelations and new characters. A great end for this series and we will see what happens next in the spin-offs with Woods and Grant.

Pages: 288
ISBN: 978-1937053284

Seventeen-year-old Eva is a chosen one. Chosen to live, while others meet a swift and painful death from an incurable virus so lethal, a person is dead within days of symptoms emerging. In the POD system, a series of underground habitats built by the government, she waits with the other chosen for the deadly virus to claim those above. Separated from family and friends, it’s in the PODs she meets David. And while true love might not conquer all, it’s a balm for the broken soul.

After a year, scientists believe the population has died, and without living hosts, so has the virus. That’s the theory, anyway. But when the PODs are opened, survivors find the surface holds a vicious secret. The virus mutated, infecting those left top-side and creating... monsters.

Eva and David hide from the infected in the abandoned PODs. Together they try to build a life--a new beginning. But the infected follow and are relentless in their attacks. Leaving Eva and David to fight for survival, and pray for a cure.
My review:

I rarely read books with viruses thath destroy the wolrd and leave the world population full of some form of zombies but when I read the summary for this book I couldnt resist. After everything that happens, the virus, the raffle to choose who will be saved, riots and fights for survival, in the middle of it all is a true love story. Both characters, Eva and David, are amazing. Eva is fierce and smart and willing to sacrifice everything for love and David is brave, protective and also willing to sacrifice his own happiness for Eva. There were a lot of things to be afraid in the world of a deadly virus  but in the end these two deserve their happiness so they fight for it. I am anxiously awaiting for the sequel Infected to see the rest of their story.

And if I want what they’re offering, I have to help them with a salvage gone terribly, terribly wrong.

But this time, I have no back up. I have no Plan B.

And I have no O’Shea.

Rylee Adamson Interview

My name is Rylee. I don’t like it when people use my last name, it reminds me of where I’m from and the people who turned on me. I was adopted as a baby into a family where they couldn’t have children naturally. But when I was ten, my parents got a surprise. A miracle baby, a little girl with golden hair and bright blue eyes.

When I was sixteen, I was accused of killing her; our parents believed the police. But I don’t really want to talk about that it was over ten years ago. I’m trying to let it go.

I’m a Tracker, a supernatural who can trace anyone’s life threads finding them regardless of whether they’re dead or alive. I prefer alive, dead is messy, but so often that is the case. I’m also an Immune, magic slides off me as if I don’t exist. That is handy.

Gods, I’m sweating here trying not to swear. Are you sure I can’t use at least one four letter word? No, of course not.

I never Track adults. They can bloody well take care of themselves. I only ever Track kids. Probably I’m trying to make up for not saving my sister. But I’ll leave that up to the psychologists out there to decipher my motives.

Alex is my buddy, a werewolf trapped between forms; half man, half wolf. Submissive, goofy and loyal to the bone he is the one spot of bright light in my life. I think you’d like him the best of the two of us. I know I can be a hard ass, I can’t seem to help it. But Alex has never met someone he couldn’t win over with a floppy wave of his oversized paws. He might not be the best back-up, but he makes me smile and in my world, that is enough.

Someone once asked me what it was like to Track kids for parents who had no one else to turn to, for parents who’d lost hope that their child would ever be returned to them.

This was my answer: It’s a weight and a responsibility that sits on me, I took an oath that I would never stop Tracking lost children. That I would put my life on the line for those who can’t save themselves, and that I would fight to my last breath to keep a child alive.

And I wouldn’t have it any other way.

Giveaway: Winners choice of (1) eBook copy of Priceless (A Rylee Adamson Novel, Book One), Immune (A Rylee Adamson Novel, Book Two) OR Raising Innocence (A Rylee Adamson Novel, Book Three).

Blog tour: In too deep by Michelle Kemper Brownlow + GIVEAWAY

In Too Deep by Michelle Kemper Brownlow
Publication date: June 6th 2013
by Sapphire Star Publishing
Genre: New Adult Romance

Long- Gracie has just finished her freshman year of college in Memphis when she takes a job at a local pizza joint in her home town of McKenzie, Tennessee. She is the epitome of innocence when she meets Noah. Noah is unabashedly handsome, intriguingly reckless and just cocky enough to be sexy. Gracie’s instincts tell her to stay far away from him and based on the stories she hears from her co-workers he leaves broken hearts in his wake. But still, she can’t explain her fascination with him.

Noah puts aside his bad boy ways when what he thought was a summer crush has him unexpectedly falling in love. But soon after Gracie transfers to UT Knoxville to be with Noah, their unexpected love becomes riddled with anger, deceit and humiliation.

Jake, Noah’s former roommate and Gracie’s best friend, can no longer be a bystander. Gracie’s world falls out from beneath her and when she breaks she turns to Jake for strength. As Jake talks her through a decision she’s not yet strong enough to make, together they uncover a truth so ugly neither of them is prepared for its fallout. Will Jake pull her to the surface or is Gracie Jordan finally In Too Deep?

My review:

This book had my head spinning. It was full with different emotions and you can just be along for the ride. I hated Noah from the start. He is such a disgusting person but he hides it with charm and good looks so Gracie didnt see it coming. She also annoyed me a little because she was to forgiving. I just couldnt understand how she could go back to him over and over after everything he did. Jake was the bright star of this book even though he isnt perfect. He was there for Gracie every time even though it brought him nothing but pain. This book will have you cry, cringe, curse and yell at the people in it but sometme it will bring a smile to your face. This book is real, no sugarcoating, it shows us the ugly side of love and be prepared to be an emotional wreck while reading it but it is well worth it.

Michelle Kemper Brownlow has been a storyteller her entire life. Her debut was on the high school cheerleading bus granting requests to re-tell her most embarrassing moments for a gaggle of hysterical squadmates.

Earning her Bachelor’s degree from Penn State University in Art Education and then marrying her very own “Jake,” she moved to Binghamton, NY where she taught high school. After having two children she quit work and finished her Master’s degree in Elementary Education at Binghamton University.

The Brownlow family of four moved to Michelle’s hometown of Morgantown, PA while the children were still quite young. A few years after moving, her family grew by one when they welcomed a baby into their home through the gift of adoption. The family still resides in PA, just miles from where that high school cheer bus was parked.

Michelle has been an artist for as long as she can remember, always choosing pencils and crayons over toys and puzzles. As a freelance illustrator, her simple characters play the starring roles in numerous emergent reader books published by Reading Reading Books.

“Writing is my way of making sense of the world. When I give my characters life on the pages I write, it frees up space in my mind to welcome in new stories that are begging to be told,” says Brownlow

While fashion design major Caroline Hunter may have been born economically unlucky, in college, she’s been lucky in love. Until her senior year at Southern University. She’s gone from a serious long term boyfriend to a string of crappy dates.

Then she meets mathematics grad student Reed Pendergraft.

Reed is everything she’s not looking for. Serious. Headed for a low paying university job. Boring. Caroline spent the first eighteen years of her life wondering where her next meal was coming from. She sure wasn’t getting trapped in that life again with a man living on a professor’s salary.

An encounter with Reed in a club proves she might have pegged him wrong. He brings out a lusty side she never knew she had. But just when she’s about to give in to her hormones, Reed makes a fool out of her.

When she shows up for the first committee meeting for Southern University’s Fall fashion show, a fundraiser for underprivileged kids, Caroline’s horrified to discover the insufferable Reed is the committee chairman. While she refuses to tolerate his totalitarian rule of the committee, she’s not sure she’ll survive the month with her heart—and her pride—intact. Just when she thinks she has everything figured out, she finds that her entire life has been redesigned, thanks to Reed Pendergraft.

Boundless (Unearthly #3) by Cynthia Hand

The past few years have held more surprises than part-angel Clara Gardner could ever have anticipated. Yet from the dizzying highs of first love, to the agonizing low of losing someone close to her, the one thing she can no longer deny is that she was never meant to live a normal life.

Since discovering the special role she plays among the other angel-bloods, Clara has been determined to protect Tucker Avery from the evil that follows her . . . even if it means breaking both their hearts. Leaving town seems like the best option, so she’s headed back to California – and so is Christian Prescott, the irresistible boy from the vision that started her on this journey in the first place.

As Clara makes her way in a world that is frighteningly new, she discovers that the fallen angel who attacked her is watching her every move. And he’s not the only one. . . . With the battle against the Black Wings looming, Clara knows she must finally fulfil her destiny. But it won’t come without sacrifices and betrayal.

In the riveting finale of the Unearthly series, Clara must decide her fate once and for all.

My Review

It is a sad day when I have to say goodbye to yet another favorite series of mine. I have been with the Unearthly series from the beggining, I watched Clara trying to find her way with her purpose, I watched her relationship and friendships unfold and I was with her every step of her way to the end. This series is beautifully written, the world is imaginative and amazingly developed and the characters will stay with you long after you finished reading. Like so many other people, I was Team Tucker from the start but I also liked Christian even though I felt that he and Clara arent meant to be together. Clara faces many opstacles on her way to fulfill her purpose and since she broke Tuckers heart to protect him, it is Christian who is by her side. I expected to see her dove right into a new relationship with Christian but I was pleasantly surprised to see that she needed time. Often authors just instantly put their main character in another relationship. This book played it self out beautifully. Wee some new fallen angels and meet a few bad Triplare, we go into hell on a mission and we lose some characters on the way.  But in the end everyone ends up happy. Well, almost everyone but I am happy that this series ended on a happy note. A beautiful end for a beautiful series.

***Excerpt (Caben’s POV)***

The Crusher grinds to a halt. I’m propelled forward, and my head smacks the low-hanging ceiling of the front compartment.
“Damn, you fool!” I palm my throbbing forehead, eyeing the driver of the Crusher—the machines I now call by their Otherworlder name.
“Sorry, my liege,” he says, backing against his seat, farther away from the glowing ribbons circling my fingers.
Ignoring him, I study the luminous white—like the surface of the moon—crawling beneath my skin, and marvel at the power. My power. Had I possessed it that day the Cavan Army forced me from my home, they never could have done so easily. But then, I never would have obtained this power. Ironic.
“Just drive,” I tell him. I take a seat on the front bench, away from the foul stench emanating from the back compartment—our diversion tactic that will gain me entry into my palace, where I know she’s being kept.
The glow beneath my skin illuminates brighter, reminding me of her skin. I curl my fingers into a tight ball.
The battle up ahead is only part of my plan, one that I know Kaliope will fall for. I need the reserves away from the palace. Then we’ll take care of her Nactue once we’re inside. My back molars clamp down hard at the thought of her—a mix of something like fire and nausea invading my stomach.
At one time, I felt things for the black-haired beauty. I chuckle to myself. Well, at least my groin did. Just thinking of her body makes me ache, and I have to adjust myself. But that was when I was weak, when I only thought and felt with that weakness. As much as I hated my father for thinking me too feeble to rule, he was right. I was pathetic.
Bale freed me. Released the part of me that I kept buried, locked away deep down, and I no longer fear anything. I think of everything that once made me shudder or quake with dread and laugh. It’s so simple.
Without fear, there is only freedom.
And if I free Bale completely, releasing her from within my being and making her corporeal, she’ll bestow me with even more power. I don’t care what the dark goddess does or where she goes once I restore Empress Iana’s relic. I don’t give a damn what happens to the maggoty Otherworlders or their realm.
I just want her out of my mind. And I want the power.
Then I’ll set my sights on Perinya, and on gaining what’s mine.
A deep cackle fills my head, deep and sultry.
“Quiet, woman.” I roll my eyes. We’ve come to a compromise, the goddess and I, that she may remain within my mind, but she’s to keep quiet. I got tired of her constant lectures and angry rants about her sisters. She does stay silent…for the most part. But the sooner I get her out of my head, the better.
Having a woman fill your thoughts is a weakness in itself. A sudden flash of a smiling, laughing Kal blurs my vision, and I shake my head.
There’s only one way to rid my thoughts of that woman.
Kill her.
“Burrow, leach,” I command the driver. “We’re coming up on the battle. Go underground.”
“Yes, my liege.”
Tonight, I plot. Find a way into the capital of Perinya and into my home. And then take back what’s mine. The goddess can have what she wants. I’m only interested in claiming what’s mine.
No one will ever take anything away from me again.
Don’t get in my way, Kal.
I shake my head harder, trying to quiet the pesky thoughts that always spring up when I think of her. Something left over from before—a residual feeling, an effect she has on me.
It won’t be there much longer. I smile, and Bale laughs.

Of Silver and Beasts (Goddess Wars #1)
Release Date:  April 19th 2013

Summary from Goodreads:
In the sand-covered queendom of Cavan, the goddess once saved a young Kaliope’s life, preventing the mercury her father attempted to hide in her blood from reaching her heart. When nineteen-year-old Kaliope is chosen as head of the Nactue Guard, she becomes the sworn protector to her empress. In the midst of an invasion on a neighboring land, Kaliope is placed in charge of guarding Prince Caben, the last heir to his kingdom. But when they’re attacked by the feared Otherworlders, Caben and Kaliope are abducted and taken below to a realm where they must fight for their life in a caged arena.

Kaliope struggles to protect her princely charge, keeping him and herself alive while battling inhumanly opponents, and trying to save the stolen, sacred relic that will restore her empress’s life force and all of Cavan. And if she can somehow awaken the goddess within her, she may save what’s most important.
