Before I wake ( Soul screamers #6) by Rachel Vincent

I died on a Thursday-killed by a monster intent on stealing my soul. The good news? He didn't get it. The bad news? Turns out not even death will get you out of high school...  Covering up her own murder was one thing, but faking life is much harder than Kaylee Cavanaugh expected. After weeks spent "recovering," she's back in school, fighting to stay visible to the human world, struggling to fit in with her friends and planning time alone with her new reaper boyfriend. But to earn her keep in the human world, Kaylee must reclaim stolen souls, and when her first assignment brings her face-to-face with an old foe, she knows the game has changed. Her immortal status won't keep her safe. And this time Kaylee isn't just gambling with her own life..

My review:

WOW! I didn´t think it was possible anymore, but Rachel Vincent gets better with every book and she started with great but now, it´s perfect. She always surprises me and amazes me. "Before I wake" is the best one in the series and I think that the finale, "With all my soul", will be even more fantastic. The storyline is perfect. I was bitting my nails through the whole book and the ending left me speachless. Kaylee grows into herself more, eventhough she doubts herself and hasn´t quite yet grasped the consequences of being undead, she is still the wonderful character we all love. Her relationship with Tod grows stronger and their love story just makes me warm. All of their conversations melted me into a puddle on the floor, especially everything that comes out of Tod´s mouth. Now, maybe I never truly liked Nash as Kaylee´s boyfriend, I still hurt for him. I understand how he feels and I sincerely hope that he would finally let go of Kaylee and fully embrace his love for Sabine who is still the same sarcastic and great self.  I cried during the book and everyone who loves the series will too. It is breathtaking, sad and filled with love, regret and blood. Lots of blood. And death. I savored every page and I never want this series to end because every character has become like family to me.

My life next door by Huntley Fitzpatrick

A gorgeous debut about family, friendship, first romance, and how to be true to one person you love without betraying another

“One thing my mother never knew, and would disapprove of most of all, was that I watched the Garretts. All the time.”

The Garretts are everything the Reeds are not. Loud, numerous, messy, affectionate. And every day from her balcony perch, seventeen-year-old Samantha Reed wishes she was one of them . . . until one summer evening, Jase Garrett climbs her terrace and changes everything. As the two fall fiercely in love, Jase's family makes Samantha one of their own. Then in an instant, the bottom drops out of her world and she is suddenly faced with an impossible decision. Which perfect family will save her? Or is it time she saved herself?

A dreamy summer read, full of characters who stay with you long after the story is over.

My review:

I liked it. Simple as that. Very good summer read, with lovable characters and an interesting story. I really loved the Garetts. They are a wonderful family but George is my favorite, because he is just so cute (the exception would be Jase of course). And I laughed every time Patsy showed up in the book saying boob or poop. She was hilarious. "My life next door" is a good book, great for a relaxing afternoon. I am very interested to see what will Fitzpatrick come up with next.

My top ten favorite series

10. The Covenant series by Jennifer L. Armentrout - great idea, books filled with action, emotion and forbidden love. And Aiden. And Seth. *swoon* The third book in the series, Deity, comes out in November. Cant wait.
9. The Lux series  by Jennifer L. Armentrout- Although only one book came out so far + the prequel Shadows, I was captivated from the start by the unique story. And with Daemon of course. 2nd book, Onyx, comes out in August.Mmmmm,I need a new dose.
8. Charley Davidson series by Darynda Jones - Funny, very interesting, with a lot of great characters, especially the heroine.Everyone seem to be rooting for Reyes but me, I would love to se Garett and Charley together. And I adore Cookie. She cracks me up. Fourth grave beneath my feet, 4th book, comes out in October.
7. Night huntress series by Jeaniene Frost - Action packed series with the two of my favorite characters, Cat and Bones. I think anyone who reads this series will fell in love with him and admire Cat. The 7th book will be called Up from the grave.
6. Fever series by Karen Marie Moning - Barrons. Enough said.
5. Soul screamers by Rachel Vincent - Refreshing story, wonderful characters, lots of action and romance. The 6th book in the series Before I wake, came out today, and 7th book in the series, the final one, will be called With all my soul.
4. Morganville vampires by Rachel Caine - Amazing writing, amazing characters. Simply amazing. Bitter moon, 13th book in the series, comes out in november.
3. Chicagoland vampires by Chloe Neill - I found myself pulled into this series with the first book. Merit is such a strong and wonderful person and she is one of my favorite female characters. I love Ethan also, he is yummy. Bitting cold, which is the 6th book in the series,  comes out in August.
2. The Mortal instruments by Cassandra Clare - wonderful series from one of my favorite authors. It is one of the most beautifully written series out there. It is simply perfect. Unfortunately, for the 6th and last book in the series, City of heavenly fire, we will have to wait for 2014.
1. The Hollows by Kim Harrison - Rachel Morgan. Jenks. Trent Kalamack. Al.. Kisten. Kim Harrison. Those are the reasons this series is my favorite. I seriously recommend it to everyone. You won´t regret it. 11th book, Ever - after, comes out in January 2013. I will die until then.

Soul screamers series by Rachel Vincent + Before I Wake Mini-Reading Challenge

My Soul to Take (Soul Screamers #1)

She doesn't see dead people. She senses when someone near her is about to die. And when that happens, a force beyond her control compels her to scream bloody murder. Literally.

Kaylee just wants to enjoy having caught the attention of the hottest guy in school. But a normal date is hard to come by when Nash seems to know more about her need to scream than she does. And when classmates start dropping dead for no apparent reason, only Kaylee knows who'll be next.

My review:

This book is fantastic! I always loved Rachels writing but with this book, which is an amazing start of the series, she simply ensnared me. I love Kaylee, she is a great character. She isnt perfect and that is why I love her. Nash is ok, I remember whe I first read the book that I didint see him with Kaylee forever. This book is action packed, funny and full of wonderful character that will pull you into the story and make you sweat to see what adventure would the stumble upon next.

My Soul to Save (Soul Screamers, #2)

When Kaylee Cavanaugh screams, someone dies.
So when teen pop star Eden croaks onstage and Kaylee doesn’t wail, she knows something is dead wrong. She can’t cry for someone who has no soul.
The last thing Kaylee needs right now is to be skipping school, breaking her dad’s ironclad curfew and putting her too-hot-to-be-real boyfriend’s loyalty to the test. But starry-eyed teens are trading their souls: a flickering lifetime of fame and fortune in exchange for eternity in the Netherworld—a consequence they can’t possibly understand.
Kaylee can’t let that happen, even if trying to save their souls means putting her own at risk...

My review:

Amazing series! I loved the characters developement, especially I loved more of Tod in this book. Kaylee grows as a person and we see how strong she really is. The main story, trying to save Addy and her sister, is interesting and leaves you nervous til the end.Although I love the main character in this series, Nash is just not "it" for me.

My Soul to Keep (Soul Screamers, #3)

Kaylee has one addiction: her very hot, very popular boyfriend, Nash. A banshee like Kaylee, Nash understands her like no one else. Nothing can come between them.Until something does.
Demon breath. No, not the toothpaste-challenged kind. The Netherworld kind. The kind that reallycan kill you. Somehow the super-addictive substance has made its way to the human world. But how? Kaylee and Nash have to cut off the source and protect their friends—one of whom is already hooked. And so is someone else…
My review:

When you strat re_reading one of your favorite series, you see why you loved them to begin with. Third book in the Soul screamers series is an amazing and emotional read, at least for me. So much is happening in this book, and some of that stuff left my jaw on the floor. I was disappointed in some of the characters and by some I was pleasantly surprised. I must say though that Kaylee is truly a great literary heroine.

My Soul to Steal (Soul Screamers #4)

Trying to work things out with Nash—her maybe boyfriend—is hard enough for Kaylee Cavanaugh. She can't just pretend nothing happened. But "complicated" doesn't even begin to describe their relationship when his ex-girlfriend transfers to their school, determined to take Nash back.
See, Sabine isn't just an ordinary girl. She's a mara, the living personification of a nightmare. She can read people's fears—and craft them into nightmares while her victims sleep. Feeding from human fear is how she survives.
And Sabine isn't above scaring Kaylee and the entire school to death to get whatever—and whoever—she wants.

My review:

In the fourth part of the SS series we are introduced to a new Character- Nashs ex Sabine. I must say- I loved her. She is funny and determined and really loves Nash.Although I was never his biggest fan,I must say that I think he would be really happy with Sabine, and deep down he knows it. So much was going on in this book and it was pretty nervwrecking.Kaylee has some heavy decisions to make.

The entire school's talking about the gorgeous new math teacher, Mr. Beck. Everyone except Kaylee Cavanaugh. After all, Kaylee's no ordinary high-school junior. She's a banshee—she screams when someone dies.
But the next scream might be for Kaylee.
Yeah—it's a shock to her, too. So to distract herself, Kaylee's going to save every girl in school. Because that hot new teacher is really an incubus who feeds on the desire of unsuspecting students. The only girls immune to his lure are Kaylee and Sabine, her boyfriend's needy ex-girlfriend. Now the unlikely allies have to get rid of Mr. Beck…before he discovers they aren't quite human, either.
But Kaylee's borrowed lifeline is nearing its end. And those who care about her will do anything to save her life.

My review:

It blew me away. So much stuff happening, so many emotions. It is just great. Something I have been waiting to happen from the beggining of the series finally happened and I couldn have been happier. The end was wonderful, I was crying so hard I couldnt see straight. I just hope Nash comes around. Cant wait to read BIW to see what will happen next and how all the characters will deal with the aftermath of If I die.

A Midsummer's Nightmare by Kody Keplinger

Book summary:

Whitley Johnson's dream summer with her divorcé dad has turned into a nightmare. She's just met his new fiancée and her kids. The fiancée's son? Whitley's one-night stand from graduation night. Just freakin' great.

Worse, she totally doesn't fit in with her dad's perfect new country-club family. So Whitley acts out. She parties. Hard. So hard she doesn't even notice the good things right under her nose: a sweet little future stepsister who is just about the only person she's ever liked, a best friend (even though Whitley swears she doesn't "do" friends), and a smoking-hot guy who isn't her least, not yet. It will take all three of them to help Whitley get through her anger and begin to put the pieces of her family together.

Filled with authenticity and raw emotion, Whitley is Kody Keplinger's most compelling character to date: a cynical Holden Caulfield-esque girl you will wholly care about.

My review:

I really enjoy Kody´s writing so it was no surprise that I found this book great. It´s a little heavier than "The DUFF" and "Shot out" and with that a little more interesting. It brings the issue of underage drinking to the surface. From the beggining of the book I fell into the story and could sympathize with Whitley although I don´t approve of that kind of partying. But, she sucks you right in. I also really liked Nathaniel and Harrison, who are very opposite characters but in a way, very much alike. I definetly loved the novel and I recommend it to every Kody´s fan out there. Even though I loved her first two books, this one is, without a doubt, my favorite.
