From the New York Times and USA TODAY bestselling author of Where Sea Meets Sky comes a new adult novel about a young woman who becomes a nanny in Capri and falls for her charges’ bad-boy brother. When I’m traveling, I feel like the secret to my life, to myself, to really becoming, is one step ahead. It’s in the next destination, the next town I get lost in, the next stranger I talk to. It’s always next but never here . . . After six months of backpacking and soul-searching across the world, Amber MacLean is flat broke. There are worse places for a twentysomething to be stuck than the Amalfi Coast, but the only way she can earn enough money for a plane ticket home to California is to teach English to two of the brattiest children she has ever met. It doesn’t help that the children are under the care of their brooding older brother, ex-motorcycle racer Desiderio Larosa. Darkly handsome and oh-so-mysterious, the young master of the crumbling villa tests Amber’s patience a

Quote of the week (11): Paper Towns by John Green

Slika
I wanted to read the book before going to see the movie and I am not sorry I did. Say what you want about John Green, he is a great writer and his stories are never what you expect them to be. This is his 3rd book I read and the 3rd book I loved. I read it a few days ago and it is full of lovely quotes but I had to decide on one. “And all at once I knew how Margo Roth Spiegelman felt when she wasn't being Margo Roth Spiegelman: she felt empty. She felt the unscaleable wall surrounding her. I thought of her asleep on the carpet with only that jagged sliver of sky above her. Maybe Margo felt comfortable there because Margo the person lived like that all the time: in an abandoned room with blocked-out windows, the only light pouring in through holes in the roof. Yes. The fundamental mistake I had always made—and that she had, in fairness, always led me to make—was this: Margo was not a miracle. She was not an adventure. She was not a fine and precious thing. She was a girl.”

Thursday Tracks: Walking with strangers

Slika
Thursday Tracks is hosted by  Gone with the Words  so check out the tracks from other bloggers on her site.     As The Birthday Massacre is one of my favorite bands, I love their lyrics and the music, so I decided that today I am going to post their song I listened to most lately. They releases a lot of great albums with a lot of great tracks and many became favorites of mine during the years so I hope you give them a listen. "Walking With Strangers" Look around for a means To dissuade her attention Can't remember the places And names that she mentions My words are falling apart in spite of me I'm stepping out of the light So she can't see Don't think I'll miss her But I want to take her picture When I found a place Where she can't find me And she's falling asleep As she's walking with strangers Talking cheap As the flies on the wall entertain her Her world is falling apart in front of

eARC Review: Spider's Trap (Elemental Assassin #13) by Jennifer Estep

Slika
Summary: The next thrilling book in Jennifer Estep’s  New York Times  and USA Today  bestselling Elemental Assassin series—“an extraordinary series… One of the most intriguing heroines in the genre” ( Romantic Times Book Reviews ). Keep your friends close but your enemies within stabbing distance. One important lesson I’ve learned in the assassination business is that to be the best you have to roll with the punches. Now that I’m queen of Ashland’s underworld—by default, not by choice—a lot more punches are being thrown my way. But I suppose that’s the price of victory for taking down some of the underworld’s top dogs. Good thing I have my Ice and Stone magic to help me survive my volatile new position. Just when I think things are finally settling down, someone tries to murder me during a hush-hush underworld meeting. But the real surprise is how strangely familiar my shadowy assailant seems to be. My job is to maintain order among killers, crooks, and thieves, an

Playlist: Finally, Forever (First Comes Love #3) by Katie Kacvinsky

Goodreads / Amazon / B & N / Book Depository “The rain picks up outside. It hits and slams against the window, but I think it sounds like music--a light mix of tambourine and cymbals. The wind sounds like a guitar, all low, melancholy notes. Thunder takes the drums. I'm quiet as I listen to the song.” The story of Dylan and Gray made me smile, made me laugh, then it made me swoon, and of course, cry. Their story is a beautiful one, one of growing up, never stop believeing in yourself, learning to let go and take a chance and mostly about love. It is written beautifully and it is just one of those stories whose soundtrack you hear in your mind while reading. Sour Cherry by The Kills Shout when you wanna get off the ride Shout when you wanna get off the ride Shout when you wanna get off the ride 'Cause you crossed my mind You crossed my mind Made my blood thump 7-8-9. Make my heart beat double time Now I'm only sour cherry on
