Alienated (Alienated #1) by Melissa Landers

Two years ago, the aliens made contact. Now Cara Sweeney is going to be sharing a bathroom with one of them.

Handpicked to host the first-ever L’eihr exchange student, Cara thinks her future is set. Not only does she get a free ride to her dream college, she’ll have inside information about the mysterious L’eihrs that every journalist would kill for. Cara’s blog following is about to skyrocket.

Still, Cara isn’t sure what to think when she meets Aelyx. Humans and L’eihrs have nearly identical DNA, but cold, infuriatingly brilliant Aelyx couldn’t seem more alien. She’s certain about one thing, though: no human boy is this good-looking.

But when Cara's classmates get swept up by anti-L'eihr paranoia, Midtown High School suddenly isn't safe anymore. Threatening notes appear in Cara's locker, and a police officer has to escort her and Aelyx to class.

Cara finds support in the last person she expected. She realizes that Aelyx isn’t just her only friend; she's fallen hard for him. But Aelyx has been hiding the truth about the purpose of his exchange, and its potentially deadly consequences. Soon Cara will be in for the fight of her life—not just for herself and the boy she loves, but for the future of her planet.

Expected publication: February 4th 2014 by Disney Hyperion

My review:

Since reading The Host by Stephenie Meyer and The Lux series by Jennifer L. Armentrout, I love reading books with aliens. Alienated is a great example of that genre.  It is a story of overcoming prejudice and staying strong in the face of bullies and hate. At times it was funny, the differences between the races and the blog posts were sometimes hilarious. Cara and Aelyx maybe couldnt be more different, from different planets, but when love is in the way there is no obstacles they werent willing to fight in the end. I was really angry plenty of times while reading the book beacuse it is frightening how people allow hate and prejudice to cloud their judgment and how they think violence is the answer. To me, that is just plain stupidity. I loved Caras parents and how they are loving and smart people. I loved both Aelyx, who is so special and sweet and stoic, and I loved studious Cara, who didnt allow her friends and boyfriend influence her and how she stood up for herself and Aelyx despite all. I look forward to the sequel, the ending was great but still there is plenty more to tell.

Since Merit was turned into a vampire, and the protector of Chicago’s Cadogan House, it’s been a wild ride. But now those alliances are about to be tested. A strange and twisted magic has ripped through the North American Central Pack, and Merit’s closest friends are caught in the crosshairs. Gabriel Keene, the Pack Apex, looks to Merit and Ethan for help. But who—or what—could possibly be powerful enough to out-magic a shifter?

Hi. I’m Elisa. I like cheese and reading and TV show marathons. Writing is scary, but not as scary as, say, Civil War amputations. I’m an Aquarius. Uh… let’s see… I’m not very good at writing my own biography. Or autobiography. I guess this is reading more like a slightly incoherent personal ad.

Cover reveal: Elevated by Elana Johnson + Giveaway

The last person seventeen-year-old Eleanor Livingston wants to see on the elevator—let alone get stuck with—is her ex-boyfriend Travis, the guy she's been avoiding for five months.

Plagued with the belief that when she speaks the truth, bad things happen, Elly hasn’t told Trav anything. Not why she broke up with him and cut off all contact. Not what happened the day her father returned from his deployment to Afghanistan. And certainly not that she misses him and still thinks about him everyday.

But with nowhere to hide and Travis so close it hurts, Elly’s worried she won’t be able to contain her secrets for long. She’s terrified of finally revealing the truth, because she can’t bear to watch a tragedy befall the boy she still loves.

Blog Tour: SURRENDERING TO US by Chelsea M. Cameron + Giveaway

They're finally together. But the Universe seems intent on tearing them apart…

Rory Clarke might not be Lucah Blythe's boss anymore, but that doesn't mean they can sneak off to the boardroom for hot sex whenever they want. Keeping their hands off each other in the workplace is harder than they could have imagined, and that's not the only obstacle they have to deal with. Between Lucah's troublesome brother Ryder, and Rory's bff Sloane's inability to understand locked doors, they're drowning in drama.

But it's only about to get a lot worse when a blast from Lucah's past surfaces, and chaos at Clarke Enterprises threatens to take away everything Rory has worked so hard for. Can the couple weather the storm and surrender to each other, or will the challenges of staying together destroy their relationship for good?

“Bad girl. Do you really want to go to work with marks all over you tomorrow? Because I can make that happen. I have no problem nibbling your sweet skin. Every little inch of it.” He blew on my exposed shoulder, which distracted me from getting the tie from around his neck.

“Stop that, or there will be no ‘coffee’ for you, Mr. Blythe.” He knew what I meant. He glared at me, but stopped when I started unbuttoning his shirt and followed each open button with a kiss. Once I got his shirt off, I went to work, kissing and sucking, freckle, to freckle, making sure I paid ample attention to each of his nipples, especially the one with the hoop through it. He moaned when I tugged on it a little with my teeth.

“I like that sound. I think I’ll make it my ringtone,” I said as I licked and sucked my way down to this belly button and then to the little trail of hair that disappeared under the waist of his pants. I made quick work of his belt, and then I had to shimmy down further to get his shoes off. I ran one fingernail on the underside of each foot and that made him growl again.

Then I grabbed the bottom of his pants and yanked. It took some work, but I got them off. You’d think with us having sex so much, I’d get good at undressing him, but I struggled sometimes.

I nearly cheered when I finally got his pants off, but instead, I kissed my way from his feet on up. His breathing got harsh and he started cursing, and his hips jerked a little. He’d messed with me, so now it was time to return the favor.

A Date of Godlike Proportions (The Blooming Goddess Trilogy #2.5) by Tellulah Darling

Publication date: December 20th 2013
Genres: Comedy, Mythology, Young Adult

There’s bound to be pressure when it takes 2500 years to get to a second date. Which is exactly why Theo Rockman, a.k.a. Prometheus, would rather not go. With his best friend gravely injured and the fate of humanity still on the line, Theo has all sorts of creative excuses to avoid dating swoon-worthy god and love of his life, Hephaestus.

YA romantic comedy gets an epic mythological twist in the free (at select retailers) short story A Date of Godlike Proportions (The Blooming Goddess Trilogy Book 2.5). Being human hasn’t killed Theo, but this date just might.

Tellulah Darling's Top 5 Romantic Comedy Films

1) When Harry Met Sally - This movie is the gold standard of romcoms. It's funny, it's insightful, the characters are flawed and deluded and above all its totally fabulous and all about love. Also, I'm a sucker for "best friends becoming more" films. In fact my first novel, Sam Cruz's Infallible Guide to Getting Girls was written precisely because I love this film so much.

2) The Princess Bride - I've met people who don't like this film with its whimsey and wit and magic and love. They are cold dead people. No judgement. I'm just saying. It also wins for best way to say "I love you."

3) Scott Pilgrim Vs the World - There have been a lot of crappy romcoms in the past decade or so but this isn't one of them. The premise of having to battle Ramona's seven evil exes is so fun and executed with such glee. The love triangle (square?) is wonderful and I love Kieran Culkan. There is no downside to this film. So over the top and yet wonderfully deadpan at the same time.

4) His Girl Friday - If, like me, you like your banter witty and your leads so very deluded in their feelings for each other, then this is your film. The dialogue is gunfire fast and whip smart. I love, loathe, and love again Cary Grant's character, while Rosalind Russell gives as good as she gets. A classic for all the best reasons.

5) Strictly Ballroom - Any film whose HEA is captured in a joyous dance number is okay by me. Plus it's an ugly duckling story and the scene with Doris Day singing "Perhaps Perhaps Perhaps" makes me swoon like nothing else. Another totally over-the-top film but if you can't go big when it comes to love, then go home.

I hope I gave you some new romcom favs today. Let me know which ones you love!

Praise for Stir Me Up:
"Fun, steamy, and leaves you hungry for more. Sabrina Elkins nails the vulnerability of becoming an adult and the choices that come with growing up." —Katie McGarry, author of Dare You To

"Cami's slow burn for a wounded hero will rivet readers. I seriously loved this book." —Jennifer Echols, author of Dirty Little Secret

"This book is one of my favorite young adult contemporaries. Not only does it feature a hot romance, it's also very meaningful and well, you just have to read it and see." —#1 New York Times bestselling author Jennifer L. Armentrout

My review:

This was a very sweet and a relaxing read. There was no unnecessary drama, not like most New adult book these days. Cami is a smart, independent and responsible girl with a dream of becoming a chef like her father. She has a boyfriend Luke, who is, in my opinion a great guy, they just didnt seem to work together as a couple. When Julian comes to live with his aunt, who is Camis stepmother, she begins to see it too along with a few other things. There is sizzling chemistry, of course, but they also make each other laugh and to see the world and themselves as beautiful. There is alos a little bit of magic when Cami cooks, those moments were among my favorites, she shows real passion for it and that was great.
