Review: Opposition (Lux #5) by Jennifer L. Armentrout

Summary:

Katy knows the world changed the night the Luxen came.

She can't believe Daemon welcomed his race or stood by as his kind threatened to obliterate every last human and hybrid on Earth. But the lines between good and bad have blurred, and love has become an emotion that could destroy her—could destroy them all.

Daemon will do anything to save those he loves, even if it means betrayal.

They must team with an unlikely enemy if there is any chance of surviving the invasion. But when it quickly becomes impossible to tell friend from foe, and the world is crumbling around them, they may lose everything— even what they cherish most—to ensure the survival of their friends…and mankind.

War has come to Earth. And no matter the outcome, the future will never be the same for those left standing.(less)

My review:

“Back in the day, I had this plan for the off chance that I was around for the whole end-of-the-world thing. It involved climbing up on my roof and blasting R.E.M.’s “It’s the End of the World as We Know It (And I Feel Fine)” as loud as humanly possible, but real life rarely turns out that cool.”

This series is just amazing on so many levels. I know some people dont like it but to me, it is a fantastic read. When I read Obsidian for the first time, I didnt know what I was getting into. I have never read a book about aliens so I was sceptical but the blurb drew me in and I couldnt resist. Boy, am I grateful for that. It has been an amazing journey with these characters and the world Jennifer L. Arnmentrout and it is hard to say goodbye but I am happy because Opposition, even though the final book in the series, is also the best one in my opinion. Everything was done right, the Luxen invasion and the emotional parts of the story, all was as it should be. Of course, this book is fast paced, full of action and heartbreak, and since it is JLA, surprises are there as well. But the book is also sweet and funny, swoony and hot and we finally find out some things we have been wondering for the past few books. We finally find out about the girl Luc was so protective of ( I love that little devil ), we see where the Arum are living, we see who was involved with the invasion from the start and we also see how the arrival of the other Luxen affected Daemon, Dee and Dawson. The story was unpredictable and the POVs well done, there werent many similarities between Daemon s and Katy s. And I was glad to see more of Archer who became one of my favorite characters from this series.
All in all, Opposition is a great read, it gave me all the answers I needed and the epilogue was just awesome *sigh* I hope you read it and enjoy it as much as I have, I am just sorry that this is the end.

“We were supposed to have tonight and tomorrow, and many weeks and months, but we didn't have even another minute.”

  3. I really enjoyed Obsidian but the 2nd book was a bit of a long read for me. I do want to continue with the series though and it sounds like it has a great ending, too!
