Obsidian (Lux #1) by Jennifer L. Armentrout
Summary:
Starting over sucks.
When we moved to West Virginia right before my senior year, I'd pretty much resigned myself to thick accents, dodgy internet access, and a whole lot of boring.... until I spotted my hot neighbor, with his looming height and eerie green eyes. Things were looking up.
And then he opened his mouth.
Daemon is infuriating. Arrogant. Stab-worthy. We do not get along. At all. But when a stranger attacks me and Daemon literally freezes time with a wave of his hand, well, something...unexpected happens.
The hot alien living next door marks me.
You heard me. Alien. Turns out Daemon and his sister have a galaxy of enemies wanting to steal their abilities, and Daemon's touch has me lit up like the Vegas Strip. The only way I'm getting out of this alive is by sticking close to Daemon until my alien mojo fades.
If I don't kill him first, that is.
My review:
This book, when I first read it, was a pleasant surprise for me. I dont usually go for books with aliens but I decided to read this one because of all the good reviews I read. I must say it blew me away. Our heroine, Katy, is a great character. She is smart, funny and brave. And she is also a book lover and a blogger which was a great addition to the book. Book´s main male character, Daemon Black, is(for me at least) the best male character in literature. I fell in love with him, his story, his rude remarks, his sarcasm, but most of all, his courage and the love and protectivness he feels for his family. This book is full of chemistry between Katy and Daemon, it has many funny moments and emotional scenes with a few very steamy ones ( blowing up laptops since 2011 indeed). Obsidian doesnt lack action and nerve-wrecking situations, jelaousy and attraction. It is a great start of the series and I believe the sequels will be even better because Jennifer can always surprise me,in a good way.
