Summary:
One kiss could be the last. Seventeen-year-old Layla just wants to be normal. But with a kiss that kills anything with a soul, she's anything but normal. Half demon, half gargoyle, Layla has abilities no one else possesses. Raised among the Wardens—a race of gargoyles tasked with hunting demons and keeping humanity safe—Layla tries to fit in, but that means hiding her own dark side from those she loves the most. Especially Zayne, the swoon-worthy, incredibly gorgeous and completely off-limits Warden she's crushed on since forever. Then she meets Roth—a tattooed, sinfully hot demon who claims to know all her secrets. Layla knows she should stay away, but she's not sure she wants to—especially when that whole no-kissing thing isn't an issue, considering Roth has no soul. But when Layla discovers she's the reason for the violent demon uprising, trusting Roth could not only ruin her chances with Zayne…it could brand her a traitor to her family. Worse yet, it could become a one-way ticket to the end of the world.

My review:
It is no secret that I am a fan of Jennifer L. Armentrout and her writing which is always entertaining and she always makes you fall in love with her characters so I was overjoyed when he announced she will be writing a YA trilogy with gargoyles. I mean, I never read anything where gargoyles were main characters and I was curious to see how she will pull it off. We first meet Layla, the main character in The Dark elements series, in Bitter sweet love, the prequel to the series. She was 13 then and still was a sharp and an amazing kid. Fast-forward 4 years and we see Layla as a 17- year old high school student who was adopted by the Wardens. Wardens are the gargoyles who fight the good fight against evil and demons and are now known to the public. Layla is special, as often main characters are, since she is half Warden, half demon. She has a crush on her lifelong friend and Warden Zayne but a romance is impossible between them since if she ever kissed him, she would take his soul. Enter Roth, the sneaky demon who always turns up in the right time to save Layla and who is not as evil as Layla always blieved demons to be. Plus, he is hot and charming and has no soul, so the kissing between them is very much possible. Enter blood thirsty demons, a friendly snake, search for a book, a lot of disapproval and grounding, fighting and sparks flying you get White hot kiss, a great read, abook you wont be able to put down until you finish it. Definetly a recommendation from me.
