Fourth Grave Beneath My Feet (Charley Davidson #4)
Summary:
Sometimes being the grim reaper really is that. Grim. And since Charley’s last case went so awry, she has taken a couple months off to wallow in the wonders of self-pity. But when a woman shows up on her doorstep convinced someone is trying to kill her, Charley has to force herself to rise above. Or at least get dressed. She quickly realizes something is amiss when everyone the woman knows swears she’s insane. The more they refute the woman’s story, the more Charley believes it.
In the meantime, the sexy, sultry son of Satan, Reyes Farrow, has been cleared of all charges. He is out of prison and out of Charley’s life, as per her wishes and several perfectly timed death threats. But his absence has put a serious crimp in her sex life. While there are other things to consider, like the fact that the city of Albuquerque has been taken hostage by an arsonist, Charley is having a difficult time staying away. Especially when it looks like Reyes may be involved. Just when life was returning to normal, Charley is thrust back into the world of crime, punishment, and the devil in blue jeans.
My review:
I really missed Charley. She is one of my favorite characters of all time and it was a pleasure reading about her again. Since this is on of my favorite series, I truly look forward to the sequels and Fourth grave beneath my feet didnt dissappoint. It was even more funnier and interesting than the previous books but it also had a little something extra. Charley is not the same person she was before all due to the torture she endured at the hands of Earl Walker so it was very interesting to see how she was coping with it all but it was also laced with humor specific only for Charley. Reyes is, well, still the same secretive Reyes although he became a little bit more talkative. The chemistry and emotions between him and Charley still sizzle and their problems are not nearly over but I have hope they will resolve it all in the future. I missed Garett in this book,he wasnt himself and I want to know more about his <
Darynda Jones always writes an exciting, interesting book with unique story and characters and with humor that often makes me laugh out loud while reading. Some of the sentences are really precious in that way. Everyone should read this series. I am certain anyone who does, will love it as much as I do.
