Book Blitz : The Voice by Jennifer Anne Davi

The Voice by Jennifer Anne Davi - YA Contemporary novel - Publication date: January 29th, 2013
During her abduction and assault, Audrey begins to hear a voice. She hopes she’s not going crazy, because after what she’s experienced, that’s the most logical explanation. However, as she begins to listen to the voice, Audrey realizes that someone may be telepathically trying to help her.

Unfortunately, rescue isn’t all she needs. In order to leave behind the constant reminders, she flees to her Aunt Kate’s house in San Diego, and assumes a new identity. It works—until the eighteen-year-old twin boys who live next door threaten to break through the protective walls she’s worked so hard to build.

Between Caleb going out of his way to befriend her and Justin avoiding her at all costs, Audrey doesn’t know if normalcy will ever find her again. But one thing is certain: When a familiar danger resurfaces, it’s the same voice that she turns to—a voice that is not only real, but a lot closer than she realizes.

Gripping and tastefully told, The Voice is a story of healing, trust, and courage.

Here is the interview with the author:

*Every author has their story about their road to publication. How was your road?
Long! I wrote a book and tried to get it published with little success. At the time, I had no idea what I was doing or even what genre I was writing. Then I entered an essay contest and won! My essay was published in a book and this fueled my desire to keep on writing. I realized then that I love to read young adult novels and decided to write the book I wanted to read. I outlined THE VOICE, wrote it in four months, revised it for almost a year, then sent it out to agents and publishers. I had several people interested in the story. I ended up going with a small publishing house that specializes in YA books and I couldn’t be happier!

*How did you come up with the idea for THE VOICE?

I kept having a reoccurring dream involving a girl that was locked in a cabin. At first I planned to have her guardian angel rescue her but then I realized that there were too many stories involving angels at the time. I liked the idea of telepathy, so I just kept playing around with the story until I had something that worked.

*How does it feel like being a debut author?

It’s an odd mixture of pure joy and complete and utter fear. I am so excited that my dream of becoming a published author is here! When I saw the advanced reader copy of my book with my picture and name on it, I cried! It was so surreal. But the thought of people reading and judging my work is hard. I really hope people enjoy the story. I’m trying to grow thick skin because I know not everyone will love it, and that’s okay (at least that’s what I keep telling myself). I get butterflies in my stomach just thinking about its release day!!

My  review:

This book was a pleasant read. A nice little romance story with two very confusing and frustrating characters who fall for each other. Sometimes the storyline was confusing and a litlle predictable but it was still an enjoyable read, a book to let all your troubles away and to relax. The romance was steamy and interesting, the writing okay, and all in all it was a good debut.

                                                About Tara:

Tara Fuller writes novels. Some about grim reapers. Some about witches. All of course are delightfully full of teen angst and kissing. Tara grew up in a one stop light town in Oklahoma where once upon a time she stayed up with a flash light reading RL Stine novels and only dreamed of becoming a writer. She has a slight obsession with music and a shameless addiction for zombie fiction, Mystery Science Theater, and black and white mochas. Tara no longer lives in a one stop light town. Now she lives with her family in a slightly larger town in North Carolina where they have at least three stoplights.

Deadly Sting (Elemental Assassin #8)
byJennifer Estep

Expected publication: March 26th 2013 by Pocket Books

Red is definitely my color. Good thing, because in my line of work, I end up wearing it a lot.

Most people shy away from blood, but for an assassin like me — Gin Blanco, aka the Spider — it’s just part of the job. Still, it would be nice to get a night off, especially when I’m attending the biggest gala event of the summer at Briartop, Ashland’s fanciest art museum. But it’s just not meant to be. For this exhibition of my late nemesis’ priceless possessions is not only the place to be seen, but the place to be robbed and taken hostage at gunpoint as well. No sooner did I get my champagne than a bunch of the unluckiest thieves ever burst into the museum and started looting the place.

Unlucky why? Because I brought along a couple of knives in addition to my killer dress. Add these to my Ice and Stone magic, and nothing makes me happier than showing the bad guys why red really is my color.

Elixir (Covenant #3.5) by Jennifer L. Armentrout

Summary:

Aiden St. Delphi will do anything to save Alex.
Even if it means doing the one thing he will never forgive himself for.
Even if it means making war against the gods.

My review:

This was a very good read. I loved getting insight into Aidens head and we finally se how he thinks. I never doubted how he fest about Alex but to really see his thoughts and everything he is prepared to sacrifice for her is really heartwarming but also heartbreaking. Some of his actions may end up hurting Alex emotionally but Aiden did it for her own good, he was prepared for Alex's anger. I honestly cant wait for my ARC of Apollyion to come because I am anxious to see how the story unfolds. And even after everything Seth has done, I truly hope he redeems himself.
Although I was a huge fan of JLA Ever Since I read Obsidian, this series was a little behind for me, but after Deity and Elixir I was amazed yet again by JLA's writing.

Chasing Magic (Downside Ghosts #5)

Summary:

A DEADLY HIGH

Magic-wielding Churchwitch and secret addict Chess Putnam knows better than anyone just how high a price people are willing to pay for a chemical rush. But when someone with money to burn and a penchant for black magic starts tampering with Downside’s drug supply, Chess realizes that the unlucky customers are paying with their souls—and taking the innocent with them, as the magic-infused speed compels them to kill in the most gruesome ways possible.

As if the streets weren’t scary enough, the looming war between the two men in her life explodes, taking even more casualties and putting Chess squarely in the middle. Downside could become a literal ghost town if Chess doesn’t find a way to stop both the war and the dark wave of death-magic, and the only way to do that is to use both her addiction and her power to enter the spell and chase the magic all the way back to its malevolent source. Too bad that doing so will probably kill Chess—if the war doesn’t first destroy the man who’s become her reason for living
.

 My review:

The last book so far in the Downside ghosts series is the best one yet. The books kept getting better and better but this one is an absolute winner of the lot. The passion, the anger, mistrust and the fighting along with lots of blood and a horde of zombies, this book is an amazing part of the series. I cant express in words exactly how much I love this book, and how much I love Terrible and how much I hope Chess grows more as a person in the next book because I feel she is on the right path. I only hope she leaves her addiction to drugs behind. I didnt particularly liked Lex in this book, I can understand him but I couldnt condone his actions. This book had the hardest puzzle to solve yet and it was the most nerve - wrecking and frustrating so far. I know that the next book that Kane writes will be even better because that is her pattern. I just cannot wait to read it.
